Information Literacy Librarian

Salem State College is seeking a professional librarian to be responsible
for the training of library patrons and staff in the following areas:  the
identification of information needs; the location, retrieval, evaluation
and synthesis of information; and the use of electronic, traditional, and
non-traditional resources.  Required qualifications include an ALA
accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science, 2 years of full-time
experience in reference and library instruction in an academic environment,
in-depth knowledge of electronic and traditional reference resources and
trends, experience in creating web pages, the ability to communicate
effectively and to recognize the information needs of library patrons, and
a demonstrated commitment to information literacy and library instruction.
A subject masters degree and experience in and commitment to working in a
multi racial, multi ethnic environment with patrons of diverse backgrounds,
learning styles and abilities are preferred.  Salary is $34,000 minimum,
dependent upon education and experience.
