Filemaker webbed DB - How to get links?

I'm using Filemaker 4.0 with Web Companion to put a database on the web. I
can't figure out how to get an html address to act as a link when accessed
with browser -  Using Filemaker 4.0/Web Companion, the problem is that the
browser reads the special characters in a URL (i.e. greater than, quote) as
a string of alphanumeric characters.

Has anyone created browser-active links within a Filemaker webbed database?
