Cold Fusion & Microsoft Access? And what is ODBC?

Another member of the listserv asked me to explain what is meant by ODBC compliant
databases.

ODBC stands for Open Database Connectivity and it is a standard developed by
Microsoft to allow access to different types of databases. Products like
Access, dBase, Paradox, and (I think) FoxPro are ODBC compliant.

A good set of definitions can be found at the Free Online Computing Dictionary
(http://wfn-shop.princeton.edu/cgi-bin/foldoc) or O'Reilly's Dictionary of PC
Hardware and Data Communication Terms (http://www.ora.com/reference/dictionary/).

I should add that FoxWeb, mentioned in my previous posting can be found at
(http://www.foxweb.com).
