Information Processing Consultant
 
The University of Wisconsin-Madison Health
Sciences Libraries (HSL) are seeking
applications for an Information Processing
Consultant, full-time academic staff
appointment.  Benefits include 22 vacation
days, sick leave, group health insurance and
state retirement plan.  Salary Range: $30,100-
40,919.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop high-end, quality
application programs (emphasis on web-related
development) to support the HSL customers and
staff. Program, script and customize
commercial software. Provide production
support of Novell Netware network and Unix
servers. Update locally loaded databases.
Prepare support documentation. Troubleshoot
software and hardware.
 
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree (e.g. computer
science, engineering, information systems or
similar field). 1-3 years experience.
Understanding of TCP/IP and Internet
standards. Skilled at using scripting
languages, e.g., SGML, HTML, CGI. Proficiency
with DOS,  Windows 3.1, 95 and NT in a network
environment. Ability to administer Novell
Netware and knowledge of Unix servers.
Excellent oral and written communication
skills with the ability to train staff and
manage projects. Independent learner. Team player.
 
DESIRED: Demonstrated knowledge of WinBatch,
Perl, C++, authentication issues, Visual
Basic, help desk issues. Prior experience in
libraries,  health sciences and/or public
service settings.
