I agree.  This gives a new cyberspin to the old saw that if you build a better mouse-trap, the world will beat a path to your door.  I think we've been goosed.  Any more messages on this topic will go into the spam-can here.

It's quite possible that a clever parody points to a legitimate 
web site to boost its apparent credibility, just as a crackpot book 
can have a bibliography full of reputable publications.

I think Dennsis is right: I suspect that we have experienced an object 
lesson in the difficulty of evaluating the authority of electronic 
"publications".
