I originally responded directly to Shelden, but upon reflection I felt
that other Web4Lib readers may benefit from reading it, so here it is.

Shelden,
Welcome, but you should know a few things about this list you just joined
and posted to. It is about 3,600 people around the world who wade through
15-20 messages a day to find the few that really matter to them. They take
this rather seriously, as they are very busy people.

One of the things your instructor may wish for you to learn during your
participation in an electronic discussion is that reputations can be made
or lost through your contributions. Therefore, to make sure you get
started off on the right foot, please review the Web4Lib Posting Policy
at:

http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/Web4Lib/#Policy

and also, in particular, the Behavior Guidelines at:

http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/Web4Lib/#Behavior

You may also want to browse recent messages in the archive at:

http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/Web4Lib/archive.html

to get a feel for the kinds of things that are being discussed. Finally,
as you probably figured out by now, the discussion Web site is at:

http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/Web4Lib/

It has everything you may want to know about the discussion and much more.
Good luck with your learning experience,
Roy Tennant
Web4Lib Owner
