Is there a way to search for specific type of sites?

Hi, All:

Does anybody know if it is possible to search for specific type of sites
on the Web?  For example, if I am only interested in looking at the
.gov/ sites, is there a way to get at it?  It will be an efficient way
to limit the search if it can be done.  Thanks in advance to your help!
