THE CENSORWARE PROJECT

http://www.spectacle.org/cwp/

Just as one man's trash might be another man's treasure, one company's
definition of objectionable material might be another person's right
to free speech. What's more, when the topic is site-blocking software,
the wide definitions used to block "objectionable material" invariably
lump innocuous fare within its banned list. Such is the rallying cry
for this group of concerned netizens, acting under the loaded title of
The Censorware Project. The group tests various software programs and
uncovers hidden political agendas behind some of the more popular
blocking programs and lists the questionable sites not allowed. The
group carries some heft, as Cyber Patrol changed its listings after an
unfavorable report first published on this site. Stop in and read the
latest examples of potential online free speech impediment.
