The Cline Library at Northern Arizona University invites applications for:
Electronic Initiatives Librarian. This position is in the Library's most
recently created work unit. The unit is responsible for design,
development, and initial production of digitized information and online
library services. Under the direction of the Digital Collections
Librarian, this position fosters communication and effective relationships
with other Library personnel, faculty, and students in formulating and
executing a variety of electronic initiatives; provides design support for
the Library's web pages; offers technical advice and assistance to
Library personnel and faculty; investigates, tests, and applies new
technologies that enhance the Library's digital information and services.
This position supervises one FTE staff and may supervise students and
interns on special projects. In addition to active participation in
Library and University committees and working groups, serves as a subject
specialist which includes resource selection and faculty liaison
responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications: REQUIRED: MLS from ALA-accredited school and two
years academic library experience preferred, other combination of graduate
education and appropriate experience will be seriously considered;
significant experience in web design and production; demonstrated skill in
the use of web authoring tools and mark-up languages; evidence of creative
application of new technologies for services and information products;
strong interest to lead research and development efforts related to
interactive computing and the integration of text, graphics, audio, and
video sources in a digital library environment; familiarity with Windows NT
and Unix operating systems; knowledge of current and emerging trends in
libraries, higher education, and distance education; strong commitment to
improving library access for distributed learners; excellent communication
and interpersonal skills in a diverse workplace and a multi- cultural
learning environment; evidence of flexibility and enjoyment of
collaborative endeavors.
