Problem with MAPI spooling in NT workstation

I have run into a staff NT workstation which has an email with .wav
files looping [stuck in sending] in the OUT basket.
The system  won't allow a delete on the item because it is 'sending.'
I have tried an uninstall/reinstall of OUTLOOK 97 and the problem is
still there.
Any suggestions on how to kill that process?
