Web Services Coordinator

The University of Minnesota/Twin Cities Libraries seeks an energetic,
dynamic individual for the position of Libraries Web Services Coordinator.
The University Libraries is committed to use new technologies to  provide
University of Minnesota students, faculty, and staff with the information
resources and services they need, whenever and wherever they need them.
This position is critical to this effort and will provide leadership,
expertise and creativity to expand the Libraries' delivery of its resources
and services to our users via the World Wide Web. The Libraries Web
Services Coordinator is a member of the Reference and Consultation Services
(RCS) Team and the RCS Electronic Services Team and reports to Reference
and Consultation Services Team Leader.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Leads the Libraries' Web Project Group and implements the design and
development of the Libraries' public and staff Web pages, under the
guidance and direction of the Libraries RCS Electronic Services Team.
Duties include planning, budgeting, and staff supervision, as well as
coordinating content, design, and overall quality control of University
Libraries Web sites. Coordinates and ensures a process for user assessment
of interface design and use of Web resources and services. Provides
technical advice for library-wide Web development and ensures coordination
between the RCS and the Automated Systems Teams.

· Coordinates Library Web efforts both within the University of Minnesota
and beyond by representing the Libraries on local, regional or national Web
groups and seeking partnerships where appropriate.

· Provides the Libraries with expertise on technology development and
trends, and the applications of new Web technologies, keeping current  on
Web development tools, Web authoring software, new Web browsers and
indexing tools.

Required Qualifications: MLS from an ALA-accredited institution; knowledge
of the hardware and software used in providing electronic services,
including HTML, Web browsers, and Web authoring tools; experience in the
development and use of the Web to provide library services; excellent
communication and interpersonal skills; flexibility and the ability to work
both independently and in cooperation with colleagues and library users. 

Desired Qualifications: Public service experience in an academic library;
project management skills; experience in testing interface design with
users; skills in user assessment in their use of Web resources and services.

Appointment and Salary: This is a 12-month continuous appointment track
academic/professional position with probationary appointment at either the
Assistant or Associate Librarian rank, depending on qualifications.  The
minimum salary is $40,000 plus excellent benefits.
