To respond to Ronnie Morgan's request for clarification, my thought
was that the son should have heeded his father's
instruction not to access the Internet without his permission or
presence. One wonders how a library could keep track of which
young people have permission to access the Net without a parental
presence and which did not. Few libraries are staffed
sufficiently for such monitoring.
The "chilling" part for me was that a special interest
group can so easily put a community's free access
rights at risk.
BTW, I loved Thomas Perrin's Swiftian piece on hiring censors.

If most of you advocate "parents choice", why is this so "chilling"? Was
the father not making the choice in this case?
One would think a simple instruction to the LIBRARY would have been
sufficient.
