Announcing the International Medical Libraries on the Web Ring.

A ring is born!  The International Medical Libraries on the Web Ring or 
IML for short is intended to be a world-wide collection of medical, 
nursing and healthcare libraries linked together on the web. The only 
specification is that your site belongs to a library,  which provides 
healthcare information either to the public or to the medical, nursing 
or allied professions. Your site should also consist of more than a 
collection of links. 

If you meet these two specifications you are on your way to Ring 
membership. When you join, your Library site will be linked with others 
in the ring.

The benefits of your Library site being in the ring will be many. It is 
hoped that it will help bring medical and healthcare libraries spread 
throughout the world closer together, and that it will lead to a sharing 
of ideas and maybe even resources.  It will, of course, mean increased 
traffic to your site and exposure for your library.  I personally hope 
that the ring will take on a true international flavour with healthcare 
libraries from every country in the world and every language coming 
together in the web ring.  If anyone reading this e-mail belongs to 
lists other than MEDLIB-L or lis-medical, please feel free to send other 
relevant lists too!  We have all explored the web for important 
resources for our readers and the ring will bring all of our discoveries 
closer together.  I am sure we will also be able to learn much just by 
looking at each other's sites.

outlined there.  There is also a bulletin board and access to a Java 
chat room to discuss matters relating to medical and healthcare 
librarianship.   

Companies providing services to healthcare libraries also have the 
opportunity to have a link from the ring site, but may not be part of 
the ring.
