Filtering Facts is now endorsing specific filtering software according to
the following criteria:
a) The stoplist must be reasonably accurate and effective at blocking
pornography.
b) The stoplist must be customizable so as to block only pornographic
content.
c) It must be possible for the library to add and delete sites from the
stoplist.
d) It must be possible for the librarian to override the filter for the
patron.
e) All keyword blocking, must be turned off.
f) The vendor has demonstrated it will quickly unblock incorrectly blocked
sites.
Would Mr. Burt or any other member of Filtering Facts care to define for
the rest of us what is considered "pornography" in simple,
easy-to-understand terms so that when evaluating filtering software, we
can determine how effectively it blocks "pornography".
