Distance learning questions

Regarding your second question (effectiveness of
online instruction), I wrote a paper for a doctoral
seminar last Spring that has a section that deals
with the effectiveness of online instruction. In it,
I summarize the results from a number of studies.

The doctoral seminar dealt with computer-mediated
communication (CMC). The title of my paper is
"Cyberhope or Cyberhype: CMC and the Future of
Higher Education". The section on the effectiveness
of online education is about three fourths of the way
through the paper, and is called "The Effectiveness
of CMC in Higher Education."

A caveat.....we did a quick-and-dirty conversion from
Word 7.0 to html to put the paper up so that other
seminar participants could have access to it. Along
the way, a number of formatting items were lost.
The section headings were in bold, and I used a lot
of bullet points. Those formatting items didn't make
it through the conversion, and so it's not obvious
where the sections start (as the headings aren't in
bold type). Also, the bullet points no longer look
like bullet points, so it gets confusing at times.
