The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL) has a
professional position available.
Description of Duties:
Develops tailored information packages for JHU/APL departments based on
analyses of DOD & other government information resources.
Works with a team of other information & systems professionals to
enhance system interfaces, search engines & resources. Develop &
maintain government/military
information web pages. Participate in the analysis of the information
needed of end-users. Assist in the planning, implementation,
installation & administration of
digital information. Work with a team of reference & systems staff to
enhance & maintain locally managed databases. Participate in committees,
task forces, & teams as appropriate. Participates in staff & user
education programs.
Skills/Experience:
Required:
MS or MA degree in the library & information sciences, computer
information sciences, or related information fields. Familiarity with
DOD documentation, information policy & procedures. Must be
knowledgeable about current trends in information technology
particularly those relating to the World Wide Web. Demonstrated
user-centered service philosophy. Excellent communications skills. Must
be a U.S. citizen & eligible for SECRET clearance.
Desired:
Military service experience. Library/information management experience
in a DOD related organization. Teaching experience. Clearance Needed:
SECRET. This person will be routinely working with classified (SECRET)
documentation and with clients who are seeking information relevant to
classified projects.
