Using VBScript/JavaScript in library sites

I would like to know if anyone on this list has
done anything substantial with JS, VBScript,
or Java on their library sites. I'm mainly
interested in JavaScript/JScript, but I would
appreciate seeing some examples of
how you're or (or arent't) incorporating this
technology to make your site more interactive.
Also, if possible, would you please provide
the specific URL? Thanks.
BTW, I'm not sure this is one of those
backchannel type questions, as I think there
might be other webmasters out there just
as curious over something like this, so do
respond via the list but also feel free to
correspond directly with me.
Sidenote: I am still slightly skeptical as to the
usefullness of things like JS and VB with
respect to library/edu sites, and I would rather
be sure my page was viewable via something
like Lynx than to incoporate technology that
might limit or block access to information
simply for the vain sake of special effects. My
own library-related JS project, Proteus,
(http://www.thrall.org/proteus.html) turned out
to be a somewhat successful endeavor,
although I did create a Proteus II for Lynx and
low-version-#/non-JS browsers.
