Gates to Spend $200 Million in Cash, $200 Million in Software and
Training, to Link Public Libraries to the Net: In an exclusive interview with
Library Journal June 24, Microsoft Chair Bill Gates said he would make
his biggest philanthropic gift to date on an initiative to link "more than half"
of all public libraries to the Internet over the next five years, giving those
PLs in the poorest urban and rural communities the highest priority. For
