I received a number of direct replies regarding our problem...
"Following an "upgrade" to Netscape 3.01 several weeks ago, things
just haven't been the same. The machine--a 486 66MHz with a piddling
8Mb RAM and Windows 3.1--is extremely s-l-o-w loading even the most
dimunitive of sites...."
Thank you all for replying so quickly with some helpful suggestions.
Here's a summary of your ideas for the list:
1. Netscape 3.01 demands resources. Try Opera.
2. Make sure the c:\temp file is empty.
3. Try WFW 3.11 instead of Win 3.01.
4. Double check the HTML for the troublesome site.
5. Netscape 3.01 had a problem early on with graphics; download a
new version.
6. Increase RAM (by far the most popular suggestion).
7. If 3.01 is an upgrade to an earlier version on the machine,
delete the netscape.hst file.
I'm working through these. We'll see. Thanks again!
