Hi

Is anyone familiar with examples of redirecting searches in external
databases using HTTP?

What we're looking for is a way to give our users access to databases, where
we have negotiated access fees on their behalf. Ideally, they would log into
our server, and search in one or more databases, using our interface.

The Z39.50 protocol could probably be tweaked to this end, but what about
databases using a web interface?=20
One scenario could include a webserver that takes input from a form,
reformatting it to syntax of a given database, initiating a search, handling
access control, and parsing the result. But I have a nasty suspicion that
maintainance on a system like that is likely to be high.

So, any ideas?, or sightings of similiar things?
