You are correct that I was way too imprecise when using the word
"costs."  A better but not perfect phrase would be "what are the social
side-effects of such access?  What are the trends that emerge from
studies about childhood exposure to pornography.  What are the
downstream issues?  Does it tend to generate a healthier attitude toward
sex, as some claim, or does it lead to additional sexual stereotyping
and sexual violence, as is claimed by others.  Does it strengthen the
bond of families, or does it instead add to the social instability that
has led to astounding violence levels in some communities?"  I don't
know.  What do you think?
