Netscape woes revisited

Thanks for the many detailed responses I received on my Netscape freeze problem
-- the original post is below. To summarize the responses:

1. It could be overheating, lack of RAM, older 16-bit PCs (not our situation,
though -- we're running Pentium 200s with 32 MG RAM)

2. Chat room use and/or email can cause problems

3. Make sure you have all Netscape patches & the latest version of Netscape --

4. -- OR, go back to an older 16-bit version of Netscape!

5. MS has a free utility to clean the registry, especially after repeated
installs of the same software

6. Don't exit ISP connection before exiting Netscape

7. Internet Explorer doesn't seem to lead to these problems - consider
switching

8. Go into Internet Explorer, delete the Netscape cache, then delete
netscape.hst - this solution is from a link on:
comp.infosystems.www.browsers.ms-windows

9. See InfoWorld 6/30/97, v. 19 n. 26, for an article by Brian Livingstone
addressing this problem (or visit www.infoworld.com) -- Brian L. has done
several articles & books on related subjects.

Again -- thanks. It's great to see peer support in action! :^)
