Some of the HTML editors - Netscape Gold 3.0 among them - tend to push
a border when you set-up a table. Many of the people using these
editors are not comfortable going into the HTML to edit the
attributes. But you're right, zapping the border makes sense.

Several people have suggested using the "BORDER=0" attribute of the TABLE
tag to make the border disappear, but I'm surprised that no one has
suggested leaving the BORDER attribute out entirely. The default setting
of the TABLE tag is no border; only by specifying a border will you get
one.
