Sound files and connection conflict

When I play a .wav file on my PC It seems to 'kill' my connection to my ISP.
I first noticed it in Netscape (have tried netscape 1.1, 2 and now 3.0). If
I downloaded and played a .wav file, I could not go to any other location.
It also appears to kill my telnet application at the same time.
I have to 'hangup ' and redial my ISP. I use TrumpWinsoc as my TCP/IP stack.
I do seem to be able to send and to receive my email (using Eudora), so some
kind of connection to my provider is saved. Does anyone have any sort of
handle on this problem?
Thanks.
Isabel
