Winter Blues?

Some of my very best letters (remember paper and stamps?) were written
and destroyed the next days. Some of my worst memories are the ones that
got out before I could destroy them. I sent one to Travelers that still
makes me wince. "Did I really say that?" Well, yes, I did.
But I am not proud of it.

This seems to be a tough winter and people may be getting short in the
temper. I see a lot of letters that stake out a position and want everone
who does not agree to give up totally. Either electronic publications
are the answer to everything (actually my position but I try to be open
minded) or they are totally impossible. I think the truth lies somewhere in the
middle and is different under different circumstances and at different
times.

So, to be as brief as I can, give the other person a break. If they don't know
the answer then it is a reasonable question. If you think you know all the
answers, then most are probably wrong or trivial. And let some of the answers
cook for a while. I like a good debate and think that sometimes we avoid
honest discussion when we should not. But all of this is trying to
decide where to bury the survivors. How about a few jokes?

Spring will get here. And if you can't wait, come to Laredo.
It is here now.
