                LITA/Library Hi Tech Award Nominations Sought 
                             -- the final call --

Nominations are invited for the 1997 LITA/Library Hi Tech Award. This award
is given each year to an individual or institution for outstanding
achievement in communicating for the purpose of educating practitioners
within the field of library and information technology. 

The award is given for a single seminal work, or a body of work, created
during (or continuing into) the five years immediately preceding the award
year. 

The recipient(s) of the award will be presented with a certificate and $1000
in recognition of their contribution. The body of work need not be limited
to published texts, but can include course plans or actual courses and/or
non-print publications like visual media, hypermedia, etc. 

Currently-serving officers and elected officials of LITA are not eligible for
the award. Members of the LITA/Library Hi Tech Award Committee are also
ineligible. Consult the LITA/Library Hi Tech Award Committee Web page
(http://www.lib.siu.edu/swen/hitech) for more information and nomination
guidelines. 

Submit your nomination for the award via the Committee home page, or send it
to the LITA/Library Hi Tech Award Committee, c/o LITA, 50 East Huron Street,
Chicago, IL 60611. You may also submit your nomination via email to the
Committee Chair at:

Nominations must include the name(s) of the recipient(s), basis for
nomination, and annotations (e.g., bibliography, course descriptions, etc.)
of the body of work. 

The deadline of nomination has been extended to January 31, 1997.
