Exhuming the "validate or die" thread... I found that HotDog's
validator did *not* catch an img tag that said 

width=

(Where I had accidentally deleted the number representing
width)

When this happened, the image vanished from the page; it was
only on scrutinizing and correcting the source code that the
image "magically" reappeared.

Maybe in the strictest computer jargon, "width= " is the same as
"width=0", but in a program written for humans I would want the
validator to catch it or at least pause and ask if I really meant it,
and for the real novice, point out the ramifications of leaving it the
way it is.  Caveat weaver...
