Systems Librarian
Job Description:
Under the direction of the Assistant Director for Information
Technologies, manages and maintains the Libraries' NOTIS-based
integrated library management system. Provides a high level of
technical expertise and working knowledge of NOTIS, exercises
independent judgment in analyzing and diagnosing problems with
the system, and works with all Libraries departments and the
campus Computing Center to ensure the efficient and effective
use of the system. Major areas of responsibility include system
administration, library liaison activities, and project management.
In addition, the incumbent will be fully involved in the migration
to a state-of-the-art library management system and will play an
integral role in the development of innovative technological
applications in library services.
Qualifications:
Required: ALA accredited MLS; minimum of 2 years experience in an
academic setting, preferably an academic library; knowledge of MARC
record structure; demonstrated organizational and analytical skills;
superior interpersonal, written and oral communication skills;
strong commitment to responsive and innovative service, with the
ability to work effectively in a demanding and rapidly changing
environment; familiarity with current developments in library
automation.
Preferred: Substantial experience with a NOTIS-based integrated
system; familiarity with UNIX and UNIX-based systems; knowledge of
local and wide area networking technologies, telecommunications,
the Internet, microcomputer and mainframe library applications.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary is negotiable to the mid-$30k level, depending on
qualifications. Includes a comprehensive benefits package.
