The Arizona Health Sciences Library (AHSL) is seeking a Head of Systems
and Networking to guide the development of the library's online
information system (ALOE) and its computing and networking resources
within the context of the Arizona Health Sciences Center (AHSC)  and the
University.

Responsibilities include:  overall administration of the computing and
networking resources within AHSL and for the Arizona Health Information
Network (AZHIN), a statewide health information consortium;  oversight and
coordination of ALOE (based on Sirsi and Ovid UNIX products);  technical
consultant for AZHIN and its members;  collaboration with other groups
involved in the delivery of electronic health information;  AHSC Web site
management;  awareness and investigation of applicable trends in new
technology.  This position currently supervises 2.5 FTE staff.

Key skills:  ability to lead and collaborate; strong technical skills;
effective communication skills;  excellent analytical and problem-solving
skills; ability to communicate complex technical information to
non-technical audiences; excellent interpersonal skills.  AHSL is part of
a growing institution and supports programs in medicine, nursing,
pharmacy, public health, health professions, and the University Medical
Center.

Minimum qualifications:  Master's degree in MIS or Library/Information
Science or other relevant graduate degree;  3 years work in library
systems or computer and networking operations in a complex environment;
supervisory experience, preferably at an administrative level.  Record of
involvement in professional associations and/or evidence of publications
or presentations preferred.

Salary commensurate with experience, minimum of $45,000.  Excellent
