What: "Putting Pictures to Work: Constructing Library Web Pages,"
"Putting Pictures to Work: Constructing Library Web Pages" features these
expert panelists:
Carlynn Thompson, Director of Research, Development and Acquisition
Information Support at the Defense Technical Information Center. Ms.
Thompson, will discuss the NSF/NCSA World Wide Web Federal Consortium's
guidelines using its Web server. Her remarks will help clarify why it is
important to have published and readily accessible guidelines. [see

Kristin Antelman: Ms. Antelman is a Systems Librarian at the University of
Delaware Library. Her presentation will focus on general design issues
that
relate to graphics, creating and editing images, including icons and
scanned
images, and some do's and dont's for web images. [See

David Carter: Mr. Carter is with the Internet Public Library, featured in
this month's issue of American Libraries. He will give a brief description
of
the IPL, including its audience services, the IPL's use of images, related
policies on using images, the IPL's Exhibition Hall, and his experiences

The IG has also prepared a handout that many members of the audience will
find useful. It includes a table of Graphics Creation/Editing Software

WWW Publishing, WWW Clip Art Resources, and WWW Publishing Guides.
