COMMUNITY INFORMATION NETWORK COORDINATOR
(for Monticello Avenue)
Grade B03: Salary $2,409 per month

The Jefferson-Madison Regional Library is seeking a full-time COMMUNITY INFORMATION NETWORK COORDINATOR for the MONTICELLO AVENUE network project. MONTICELLO AVENUE is a community network sponsored by Albemarle County, the City of Charlottesville, the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library, and the University of Virginia to develop community World Wide Web pages, provide public access to the Web and promote civic awareness via the Internet.
Responsibilities include: expanding community involvement in MONTICELLO AVENUE; making presentations to various civic groups; working with non-profit groups to develop and maintain up-to-date, dynamic web pages; coordinating, publicizing and conducting public internet workshops; coordinating relations with news media and user groups; training information providers to navigate the World Wide Web; developing a strategic plan for MONTICELLO AVENUE; managing community-oriented website using HTML; creating instructional materials in print and HTML formats; configuring and maintaining IBM-compatible and Macintosh computers and peripherals; purchasing necessary hardware and software to support development of Web resources and public Internet access; managing annual equipment budget of $20,000; serving as support staff for MONTICELLO AVENUE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE; recruiting, training and scheduling volunteers; and overseeing public computer lab.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, public relations skills, organizational skills, and familiarity with computers and the Internet are essential. Knowledge of the community is a plus. Experience in project and volunteer management and experience as a trainer are desirable. A Master's Degree in Library Science is preferred. Work time will vary according to need and will not be adhering to a rigid schedule.
