E-mail for kids?

I am looking for a site that offers free e-mail to kids in a safe
environment.  My son is 10 years old and wants an e-mail account and a
place to put a homepage.  I want a safe place for him to do this. We use
the web through my wife's SLIP account at the university where she
works. We don't use an internet provider such as CompuServ or AOL.
