Trailing slash in URLs

My example was probably not the best because of the funny port number.
When I contacted TSL some months back about the -23 port number, they said
it was intentional. I forget why they used it.
In any case, that isn't the problem I was having (and it may no longer be a
problem with MSIE 3.0). In MSIE 2.0, a trailing slash in a telnet URL even
without any port number is passed to the telnet client. Both EWAN and the
telnet client that come with Win95 can't handle the trailing slash, so they
don't connect.
Other telnet clients can probably handle this. I'm probably just
suffering the consequences of trying to get away with using only free
software.
