Position: Reference Librarian

This is a full-time position at the Spencer Road Branch of the St. Charles 
City - County Library District located in Missouri.

Description: Performs general reference duties, including reference desk
service (some evening and weekend hours), assistance with CD-ROMs, Internet,
and other electronic sources. Assists in materials selection and collection
management; assists in the collection and management of electronic
information delivery resources. Assists in the development of instructional
materials, including print, hypertext, computer-assisted or multimedia
formats using DOS/Windows and in the provision of  library instruction in a
variety of settings and formats, particularly for electronic resources.

Qualifications:

     Required -
        1.  M.L.S. from an ALA - accredited library school.

     Preferred -
        1.  Microcomputer experience - PC preferred.
        2.  Software use - word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
        3.  Demonstrated knowledge of electronic information services,
            including CD-ROM, LAN, online, and Internet resources.
        4.  Demonstrated knowledge in bibliographic instruction
            including electronic instructional media.
        5.  Coursework/experience with HTML, CGI.
        6.  Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written.
        7.  Demonstrated interest in public services.
        8.  B.S./B.A. or advanced degree in science, technology or business.

The Spencer Road Branch, St. Charles City - County Library District serves
the residents of St. Charles County, Missouri offering a traditional suite
of public library services. In addition the Spencer Road Branch also
provides information to the business and governmental communities of St.
Charles County. The library district is participating in the Westplex
Information Network (URL: www.win.org), a Community Information Network and
is engaged in a LAN/WAN project to connect all of the district's branch
locations to the Internet. The library district, located west of St. Louis,
Missouri, serves a population of approximately 240,000 with an anticipated
Fiscal Year 1996 revenue of over seven million dollars.

Salary Range: $28,092 to $33,768 annually (M.L.S.), or
              $31,368 to $37,716 with a second masters.
