Position: Head, Library Networks and Systems (LNS) Division, Hamilton
Library, University of Hawaii at Manoa (Honolulu).

Full-time, tenure track, general funds, to begin December, 1996 pending
position clearance and availability of funds. 

Responsibilities: This position is one of three division heads reporting
to the University Librarian. Leads and coordinates all automation services
provided by the Library Systems and Desktop Network Services departments.
The Systems department manages the highly complex and critical integrated
library system mainframe, application software and technical support for
UHCARL libraries, which include the Manoa site and 12 other sites. The
Desktop Network Services department focuses on planning and maintaining
the library's network devices and connections, microcomputers, terminals
and peripheral equipment, and software.  Direction of the work of
librarians, and supervision of computer operations and software
development staff is required. 

Minimum Qualifications: Librarian III:  ALA accredited MLS, at least three
years of systems administrative work in a large research library, 24
credits beyond the baccalaureate degree in addition to the MLS. Librarian
IV: 2nd Master's degree and seven years of systems administrative
experience in a large academic or research library. Librarian III and IV:
Strong interpersonal, administrative, and technical skills and experience. 

Desired Qualifications: At least ten years of relevant systems
administration experience.

Pay Range:  Librarian III: $38,964-$57,672 annual; Librarian IV: 
$47,400-$70,164 annual.
