POSITION DESCRIPTION -- "MESSAGES FROM MARS" EDITOR/MARS-L MODERATOR

Scope: 
The "Messages from MARS" Editor/MARS-L Moderator is responsible for the
quarterly publication of "Messages from MARS," the official newsletter
column of the Machine-Assisted Reference Section of the American Library
Association's Reference and User Services Association, published in the
RUSA Update newsletter, and for the management and operation of MARS-L,
the section's electronic information resource. The column disseminates
news of section and committee activities to those concerned with
computer-based reference and information services in libraries; MARS-L
serves as an electronic version of "Messages from MARS" and as a
discussion list for section and other related business.

POSITION DESCRIPTION -- MARS WEB/GOPHER COORDINATOR

Scope:
The MARS Web/Gopher Coordinator is responsible for the MARS web and gopher
site, the official Internet site of the Machine-Assisted Reference Section
of the American Library Association's Reference and User Services
Association. The site disseminates information on MARS including projects,
promotions and news to those concerned with computer-based reference and
information services in libraries. The web/gopher site serves as an
electronic forum for MARS and ALA related business.
