INTERNET/CLINICAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS COORDINATOR

The University of Virginia Health Sciences Library is seeking an Internet and
Clinical Information Systems Librarian, responsible for Internet and WWW
application development and clinical information systems supported by the
Library. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Acts as Webmaster and technical consultant for development of Health Sciences
Center Web pages; develops resources for Library's Web server; maintains a
broad understanding of Web technology and multimedia applications. Provides
reference services; participates in the Library's educational services
program. Develops, implements, and evaluates use of library-supported
information systems in clinical areas; collaborates with clinical units to
improve access and integrate systems.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Ability to manage multiple
priorities; commitment to service and teamwork.  Knowledge of health sciences
information systems and management. Ability to troubleshoot microcomputer
equipment and software.  Ability to develop instructional programs.
Familiarity with JCAHO standards and quality assurance initiatives. 
Membership in the Medical Library Association Academy of Health Information
Professionals desirable.

REQUIRED:
One year experience in a  health sciences setting, providing information and
instructional services in an automated environment.  Public service and
reference desk experience. Familiarity with clinical information services. 
Experience and training in online systems and software applicable to the
health sciences environment. Computing or integrated systems experience,
including local area networks, Windows, Unix, and Internet applications,
especially WWW development. MLS from an ALA-accredited library school.

SALARY:

Minimum $32,000 per year; excellent health and retirement benefits;
professional travel and relocation support. Position is available immediately
and will remain open until a candidate is chosen; preference will be given to
