recommendations for public webstation printers

Please forgive me for asking a practical question on this list! (My
thanks to the TWO people who sent me suggestions, but I'm still waiting
for more helpful suggestions about public webstation printers, but never
mind that). Since I innocently and inadvertantly started this "printing
vs. not printing" thread, let me try to have the last word (ha, ha, ha)...

I agree that in the ideal world our patrons would be able to exercise the
options currently be available to them (e.g., print, download, e-mail to
their accounts) but so far, printing is the easiest to support and in many
contexts it's the preferable option (e.g., lists of citations, call
numbers, etc.).

Also, my experience has been that even many patrons who have access to
other equipment (labs, home/office equipment, etc.) still don't want to
download files and use them later. They want to print out the entire
file (whether they really need it or not). This seems to be changing as
more folks recognize the usefulness of plain text files (searching for
keywords, cutting/pasting quotes, etc. -- I always say that full text and
cut and paste will revolutionize plagiarism!).

E-mail on public workstations is problematic since Netscape (and most
other browsers, I believe -- please disabuse me if I'm wrong!) allows
"anonymous" mailing, making it possible for mischievous folks to use any
legitimate server address to send a message.

Printing is here to stay, at least for a while.

Now, can anyone recommend a good quality, inexpensive ink-jet or laser
printer, preferably color? (We're thinking of getting several HP660C
printers, but wonder how they'll hold up. Anyone got any experiences to
share?)

I hope this isn't one of those off-topic posts we've recently been warned
about. If it is, I apologize!
