I'm catching up on my mail and getting this conversion all at once and probably
a little late, but non the less here's my $.02.
I am very infavor of defining certain terminal to certain tasks, i.e. opac,
Local data bases (CD-ROM), and Internet. I also think it would be nice to have
Internet terminals in the childrens section hard logged-in to a service like
CompuServs WOW for kids, or something comparible. These should not be the only
Internet terminals, and the research Internet terminals should not be limited in
my opinion (Schools too? maybe).
However, I am very interested in the lynux aspect of this. First I am new to
Lynux, and enjoying it very much. I would recommend you look into a product
called Caldera, at www.caldera.com. It may be more than you need. I would be
very interested in here the wonderful, exciting things some of you are doing or
trying to do with Lynux in libraries.
