Accountability of information providers

I think equating commercial with unreliable creates a problem.  There's a 
long tradition of profit-making ventures that create neutral, reliable 
information uninfluenced by advertising.  In the early part of the 
century the Wilson Indexes were found in every public library; Libraries 
might have purchased indexes that took kickbacks from journals who's 
publishers wanted to be included in the index.
