Use of Digital Cameras in Libraries
---------------------------------------------

I am researching an article for Library Technology on the use (actual and
potential) of digital cameras in libraries. The ease of use,
cost-effectiveness, quality and speed of photo-to-web are all issues to
be covered.

Web page illustration is perhaps the main expected use, but I would
appreciate any real examples of this - or better yet some other - use of
this new and increasingly cheap medium. Does your library or information
service have a digital camera? Is it available for general staff - or
even general public - use? Is there a downside - downloading times,
security issues, one technical skill requirement too many? Any other
issues?

The article is reviewing a couple of digital cameras (Kodak DC20 and
Casio QV100), but comments and experiences with other makes would be
welcome also.

Please direct all comments to me at kerrmw at sbu.ac.uk, and I will
summarise responses for the list(s) as appropriate.

Many thanks - and seasons greetings!

Mark
