In Lynx you can just press p and you get the option of saving the file 
directly or mailing it to your self sans tags.

You can do the same viewing thru Netscape.

You can use BBedit 4.0 with a Mac and point at the entire directory and 
have it convert completely.

You can write about a very short perl program which will slurp in an 
entire directory look for <> on the word boundaries with zero or more 
A-Z|numbers|punctuations|white spaces, ignoring case, and globally 
substituting for nothing which eliminates all tags

Probably others.
