Web4lib'rs

Hope no one considers this off topic. Our library has used Linux for
most of our web work. The new list grew out of a posting on PUBLIB-NET.

    ANNOUNCEMENT

This is to announce a new library dicussion list, "linux4lib", an
internet mailing list for Librarians interested in the Linux operating
system. The list is intended for discussion of all aspects of using
Linux in libraries. Linux is a freely distibutable UNIX clone for the
386/486/586 architecture with extensive networking capabilities. It
offers libraries an alternative way to develop internet connections and
services. Appropriately LINUX4LIB is a Majordomo-based list served on
486DX2-66 PC running Linux 1.3.20, from a small public library in the
middle of nowhere.

To subscribe to the list, send a subscribe command in the body of the
message to :
 "majordomo at virginia.lib.mn.us",
in the form :
 "subscribe linux4lib <e-mail address>".

Send the command "help" to the same address to get a complete list of
Majordomo commands.

Postings to the list should go the the address :
 "linux4lib at virginia.lib.mn.us".

Questions and problems should be reported to the address :
 "thom at virginia.lib.mn.us".

Our apologies for any duplicated postings.
