Some quick thoughts off the top of my head . . .
I would suggest Gerald Salton (developed the SMART
search engine), Eugene Garfield (founded the Institute for
Scientific Information (Science Citation Index, Current
Contents, etc.)), and Thomas Jefferson (donated his personal
library as the basis for the Library of Congress . . . complete
with his own homemade classification system)).
