>The School of the Art Institute of Chicago will be hosting the 1997
>International Symposium on Electronic Art in the latter part of Septmber.
>Tbe School, consistently rated one of the top art schools in the USA, is
>located near the lakefront in Chicago's downtown, "the Loop." Currently
>with an enrollment of over 1,500 undergraduates and 500 graduate students,
>the school's 22 departments, along with its galleries, auditoriums, and
>other facilities, are housed in two 14-story downtown buildings, the
>Columbus Drive wing of the Art Institute, and in a newly renovated large
>warehouse which is used for exhibition space.
>
>The symposium will include keynote and plenary speakers, workshops, paper
>presentations and panel discussion sessions, several gallery exhibits, and
>numerous performances. In addition to making use of the substantial
>resources available at The School and at The Art Institute of Chicago, we
>are working closely with several major Chicago cultural institutions as
>well as with area Universities to jointly present and coordinate a wide
>variety of events during the symposium week. Also, we are hoping to take
>advantage, through various special projects, of the excellent
>telecommunications possibilities which the school has to offer. We
>currently are planning to document the week's activities on a CD-ROM which
>will be available along with the proceedings of the symposum.
>
>Announcements concerning details of the symposium, which takes place in the
>third week of September, will be coming out shortly. For more information,
>please contact one of the symposium co-chairs:
