Need suggestions for software

I am currently looking at setting up a web page for my middle school 
students. Have read recently that Pagemaker 6 has HTML abilities. I've 
found it for a very reasonable price + I like the desktop capabilites & 
being able to show the kids what it can do. Do any of you have any other 
suggestions for a program that will do the same things? I am familiar 
with Pagemaker so I guess that is the basic reason I'm leaning in that 
directions. Thanks
