We are part of a county-wide consortium, and our consortium computer people
put together something called "Paperless Online Weeding" or POW. The way it
works is that you can take the IPad to the stacks, connect to the catalog
via WiFi, and pull up a list of items in call number order. The items are
color-coded to indicate if they are checked out, recently circulated, or
dusty (you can set whatever time frame your want to determine what is
dusty). You can delete the items from the catalog as you weed. We have found
this very useful.
