BTW - Final Cut  and a Mac setup can be a great choice too.
The video editing techniques and language used in Adobe Premier are
essentially the same as in Final Cut.

For video editing, you will need lots of RAM - especially if you are working
in HD format.  One of my systems has
9 GB of RAM.  I use it almost exclusively for video editing,
animation and battling the horde
in World of Warcraft. :)
