E-Branch Manager, Main Library

Full-Time

 

SUMMARY:  Under administrative supervision, is responsible for a variety
of complex operation and coordination duties in various phases of the
library's web page and e-branch services.  Performs related and other
work as required, including some graphic design duties.

 

REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

            High school diploma or equivalent.  Successful completion of
thirty (30) semester hours of college course work, with computer science
major OR certification from vocational college or technical school of
successful completion of a prescribed course in computer operation,
graphic design or data entry.  Three years of paid, full-time directly
related experience.  [Six or more years of paid, full-time directly
related experience may substitute for the certification/college course
work requirement.]

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

            Considerable knowledge of computers, including data entry,
programs, keyboards, monitors, printers, tape drives, disk drives and
peripherals.

Ability to: (1) relate and communicate effectively with the public and
staff; (2) keep records, make reports and maintain files; (3) use
resourcefulness, tact and courtesy in dealing with the public, staff and
supervisor; (4) use design skills to create graphics, themes/templates
and overall design for the web site and other applications.

 

GENERAL DUTIES

<    Responsible for daily maintenance of the Library's web page and
e-branch.

<    May perform back-up functions on computers or data if required by
Automation Department.

<    Coordinates closely with the staff committee which advises on
appearance, content, and desired capabilities of the web site.  Input
changes as requested by the committee.

<    Cooperates with the Automation Supervisor to solve problems / give
input as requested / participate in purchasing new software or hardware
for the web site or e-branch.

<    Coordinates with the Public Relations Coordinator to promote the
image and messages desired by the library.

<    Troubleshoots problems with the software and hardware used for the
library's web site and graphics.

<    Has HTML knowledge and ability to operate Dreamweaver software.

<    Answers queries from the public concerning the web page and
e-branch; resolves problems.

<    Writes "help" messages and other instructions to assist patrons in
using the web page and e-branch.

<    Coordinates patron requests for purchase of books and materials
received through the web page or e-branch with the Acquisitions
department; coordinates the answering of reference questions received
from these sources with the Reference, Special Collections and Genealogy
departments.

<    Maintains library database subscriptions in areas of languages,
reference, genealogy, etc., in cooperation with the Acquisitions
department.

<    Is responsible for the visual design and arrangement of the web
page and e-branch, within the basic design elements set up by an outside
graphic designer.  Designs the layout and graphics for these areas
except for the general header of the website.  Uses pre-generated
"banners," photos, clip art, and other graphic content to create a
responsive and attractive web page and e-branch portal.

<    Designs and produces as needed:  brochures, bookmarks, flyers,
oversized posters and banners, and other printed visual material.  May
work with commercial vendors to get materials printed in quantity.

<    Makes decisions concerning requests from vendors, patrons or
outside organizations about adding links to the web page or e-branch.

<    Works with system vendors in cooperation with the web site
committee.

<    Maintains records and statistics as required.

<    Performs other necessary duties as required

 

 

PRESENT SCHEDULE [subject to change without notice]

Monday - Friday:             8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

SALARY

$2902/month  + benefits
