[Web4lib] Mobenzi > Mobile-Phone-Based Empowerment

Perhaps all of you are correct, but I have to say that the complaining takes a lot more bandwidth than just deleting the messages one does not like. It we are honest, none of us could say that we read every WEB4LIB message we received.

I hope that the moderators will step in soon to end these threads. This is getting tiresome, to say the least.

I couldn't agree more. Occassionally, (1 out of 10 times or so) I appreciate his content-- but I'd much rather just follow his RSS feed than having every single post appear on all five or six of the lists we share subscriptions to.

With the proliferation of so much opt-in technology (RSS, Twitter, etc.), I think it's pretty rude to self-promote to email lists, especially cross-posting.

After logging in this morning and finding yet one more tangentially related (at best) self-promoting message show up on several of my lists, I finally decided to filter Gerry's emails once and for all. Probably the first time in about 12+ years that I've done that.

The other problem is the messages are cross-posted to many lists, and often
the posts are not relevant to all the topics of those lists. I get sometimes
more than 6 copies of the same post (which I can filter out easily enough
using my email application) but than every list is disrupted by the
complaint threads that the posts are irrelevant.

I do not mind the posts as much as I wish Gerry would only post things
relevant to the definition of the lists he posts.
